About WetEnd Simulator

I know it's hard to use any software without help or manual. Since I don't have much time now to finish the "real" help file, I'm going to place some basic information about the WetEnd Simulator here.

1. What is it

This program has been designed and written for teaching and scietific purposes. I use it for testing new hypotheses, empirical equations and algorithms I obtain from my experimental data as well as in teaching process, too. WetEnd Simulator seems to be very useful tool for testing the bahaviour of the paper machine in such situations like, for example: PM start, grade change, speed change, retention change, water consumption change etc. One of the most important principle is the interface which is similar to real DCS. The model and algorithms used in this engine are simplified but seem to be good enough for now. WetEnd Simulator has been written in TMT (currently Framework) Pascal. Currently, simulator has four working parts: refining system, wire part, press section and disc filter. Simulator contains also basic control loops with Manual/Auto/Cascade modes implemented. Fixed technological arrangement is the main disadvantage of this program  (but I'll try to change it in the future).

Please note that program is still under development and all works have been done by one person. It means that many options are waiting for the improvement (like CD profiles and CD control, for example, but not only). Although I tried to introduce as many "safety valves" as possible, program is still not fully "idiot-proof" therefore entering the unrealistic data can cause the computer hanging.

2. System requirements:

- PC with Pentium class processor (PI, PII, PIII, PIV, Celeron, Duron, Athlon). I guess the speed of 200 MHz should be enough.
- Graphic card with 1024x768 32-bit color resolution (lower resolutions are not serviced).
- Windows NT, 2000 or XP operating system (program could work under older OS but certain problems could appear).
